Each of these four Horizon Scanning reports present 100 priority Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research questions. Specifically, each report details what a cross-section of SSH communities would like themselves to see receiving more funding through EU framework programmes, such as the forthcoming EU Horizon Europe. Our recommendations were submitted to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research & Innovation in November 2020.

These reports cover the following energy topics, which were chosen given the EU’s ongoing policy commitments to continuing research and innovation funding in these areas:

Each of these four Horizon Scanning exercises involved four core Working Groups of 25-30 members, who led on the sourcing of the raw research question suggestions, as well as assisted in the deliberation and editing of those respective questions. Together, across all four excercises, more than 400 energy-SSH experts were engaged over August 2019 – October 2020.
